New Day, New Job
------------------------------------------------
“Hey Rose, I’m leaving!” I yelled up to her. It was about 9:30 in the morning and I needed work. Maybe a hair stylist job. I had one of those back in Tennessee. I grabbed my keys and my mPad along with my mPhone (I used some of the money for that) and grabbed my bike from the garage. I put my things in the basket. I hopped onto my purple cruiser with blue hibiscus flowers. I rode down to the hair salon. I locked my bike up.
“Let’s hope they want me.” I walked in.
“I’d like to apply for a job, preferably a stylist job.” I said. She looked me up and down.
“Nice hair.” She said.
“I cut and style it myself, since I was 12.” I told her.
“Well, let’s get you through some tests.” She told me and we walked to the back of the salon.
“Did my sister Rose apply here? I do her hair sometimes.” I asked.
“Yeah, but I wasn’t here, a more strict worker was. She is really mean to everyone, even her clients. I have a feeling that you will replace her.” She whispered to me. We got into the back room and it was it’s own styling room. A woman stood there smiling at me.
“You will style and cut her hair. She will tell you the style and you should do the best.” The receptionist told me.
“I’m Maxie.” I introduced myself.
“I’m Bekka. With the styles, can you give me thick bangs, but make them blue. And the rest can you make just at the collar bone?” She asked me.
“Sure can.” I said. I had her sit down and I started the dies. I realized that there were different types of blues. There was pastel, electric, ice, and so on.
“Uhm, which type of blue?” I asked.
“Your friend Rose’s, I saw her and it looked awesome.” She told me.
“Alright!” I said. I mixed the electric blue dye mix with the pastel blue mix and made the perfect color for Rose’s hair.I took foil and put it underneath sections of hair and brushed the dye onto it, then folded. I repeat that until her head was tin-foil hair.
“Alright, now if you would, please go over and sit underneath the crazy head bowl.” I said. I knew what it was but they all laughed.
“I know what it is. I’m just describing what it looks like, can’t I be funny and nice?” I asked.
“You should!” They both said.
“Oh, I forgot to tell you, I’m Slone.” The blond receptionist said. I shook her hand then walked over the the crazy head bowl thing. I lowered it onto her head and turned it to the perfect heat.
“Alright, now you can’t get out until your hair is done, so in about an hour. If you need water or mints or a cookie or, I don’t know, a book that isn’t next to you, sing for me!” I said then walked and washed my hands.
“Do you mind if you can give me a little cut?” Slone asked.
“No problem? Shoot the style!” I said.
“Um, just the same as it is now but touching my shoulders.” She told me.
“Alright. I just want to wash your hair first. IT feels very oily and greasy, you should be using a different shampoo and conditioner. I think you also have product build up too. Let’s wash the hair.” I said as I escorted her to the sink. I put a towel around her neck and she laid her hair back, letting her hair into the sink.
“I’m using a dandruff shampoo, I would recommend using it when your not getting you hair done.” I told her. She nodded. I rinsed through her hair several with water then with the shampoo and conditioner. when I was done I had her sit in a chair and I blow dried through her hair. I took the scissors and cut the hair in layers to the shoulder. Then I fluffed it up and looked at her.
“Dyed ends?” I asked, she looked at me.
“I can always tell when someone would look good with dyed ends. You’d look good with them. Uh, green or purple? We could possibly do gray.” I said.
“Purple.” She said.I did purple on the ends of her hair. I turned her to the mirror and she gasped.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“I LOVE IT!” She squealed. I checked the time and went over to Bekka and led her to a sink. I washed the excess dye out and towel dried a little. I led her to another chair. I sat her down and started cutting. Soon it was collar length and I just had to make the bangs over her eyes so she could see. I finished that and turned her to the mirror.
“Oh. My. Word. I love it! HIRE HER!” She said turning to Slone.
“Can you start tomorrow? 10am? Till 7pm? You get paid 10 dollars an hour. Clients will love you.” She said. I nodded and grabbed the pass she handed me. She hugged me. I got on my bike and went home. Rose still wasn’t home from her job at the training center. I cooked some Mac’n’Cheese and Rose came home. She was so happy. Her blue hair in a thick long ponytail. It went down past her shoulders. She put down her bag and collapsed on the couch.
“So tired.” She said. I laughed and sat with her. We were both working girls now. YAY!
“Need a haircut?” I asked. We laughed.

Maxie
It was my first day of work and I was going to be the main stylist for today.
“Hey Maxie!” Rose yelled up to me.
“Yes?” I asked.
“Do you have any time available today? I want to style my hair.” She said.
“You sure you don’t want to cut it? It’s pretty long! I have a feeling there are unfixable split-ends!” I asked. It was down to her knees.
“I told you my ice power gets stronger with the longer hair I have but sure. I’ll get it to the middle of my back.” She said.
“Okay. Uh the only available time I have, rather than my break, is at 1:45.” I said.
“Okay cool. Fit me in for that time slot.” She said. I walked down the stairs of our new house. It was in a nice beautiful green valley. We had a lot of money with our new jobs on the council and the salon. And for her the training center. We had 7 acres of land here. We built two houses. One for Adam and TJ that was almost out of eyesight and one for us. It was right near a river and it was 3 stories high. Plus basement so 4. I was now in the basement. We made this the living room and kitchen. I grabbed some Mac and Cheese from the fridge and microwaved it. After I finished eating I ran upstairs to grab my phone and I left.
Time flew as I worked with my regular clients. We would chat a little. My youngest client was born into the Safe Land. She was 13 and trust me, she had pretty cool hair.
Time flew and soon it was time for Rose. She walked through the door and over to me. The woman before said hello and left. Rose sat into the chair. I raised her up quite a few feet then looked at a all the split ends.
"Rose, if you want long hair, that's fine. You just need to invest in split end repairing shampoo." I said. She laughed.
"Sure." I brought her over to the sink and washed her hair. Thank goodness we had a strainer so her hair would be sucked down the drain. I used split end repair and moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. I towel dried and brushed her hair.
"It's just a little too long around the face. I’m sure your face would look not as, um, pale and thin. If I just cut it to a little under your chin, then I would cut down diagonally from there and it would still be in the middle of your back. Don’t worry, all the hair can go into a ponytail." I explained as I grabbed my comb and scissors. She gave me an uncertain look. I grabbed a picture of before and after. It showed the girl's hair like Rose's now and then after I cut it. Rose nodded.
"Just start cutting a little farther down. Like my collar bone." She said. I nodded. I cut off blue hair until it was perfect. I grabbed another brush and a blow drier. I dried and curled the tips of her hair just a little so the would be bouncy springy curls. I took off her apron thing and put it to the side. I started sweeping up her hair. It was in mounds Rose stood up and emptied the trash can with her hair in it. I put in a new bag and she gave me a hug. She liked it!
"It is easier to see." She laughed. She paid up at the desk and left.
